Fake Blue Screen of Death

A fake blue screen of death for harmless pranks: the dreaded sad face, a slowly climbing "collecting error details" percentage, and a stop code that reads convincingly from across the room — CRITICAL_PROCESS_PRANKED — and gives the game away the moment someone actually reads it. When the count hits 100%, the screen fakes a restart and boot-loops right back into the crash, forever.

Nothing crashes. It is a normal web page: fullscreen it with F, let the cursor auto-hide, and enjoy the panic from a safe distance. Escape exits instantly.

How to run the prank

  1. Open this page on the victim's browser (someone who will forgive you).
  2. Press F or double-click for fullscreen.
  3. Wait. The percentage crawls, hits 100, "restarts," and crashes again.
  4. Reveal the joke before anyone actually calls IT.

Keep it harmless

This is a generic, fictional crash screen; it imitates no specific product and is not affiliated with any operating-system vendor. It cannot damage, restart, or change a computer, and it records nothing. Use it for comedy with people who will laugh afterward — never to claim a machine is actually broken, sell "repairs," or ask for money or passwords.

Fake blue screen FAQ

Is the fake blue screen dangerous?

No. Nothing crashes, nothing restarts, nothing is installed or recorded. The stop code is fictional and gives the joke away on close reading.

What does it actually do?

It counts a fictional percentage to 100%, fakes a restart with a black screen, and loops back into the crash forever.

How do I exit?

Press Escape to leave fullscreen, or close the tab. Then reveal the prank.
